Photogrammetry Gear & Workflow

  1. Camera: Nikon D810’s 36 MP gives crisp detail at manageable file sizes; I swap in a 360° camera or even Iphone when I want stylized distortion.

  2. Lenses: A 50 mm f/1.8 and 24–70 mm f/2.8 (stabilized) avoid the distortion of ultrawide or fisheyes—essential for accurate scans.

  3. Support: Tripod for low‑light or vertical shots; handheld for natural shadows and an organic feel.

  4. Sharpness: Cable remote release eliminates micro‑shake and wasted frames.

  5. I processed all my captures on a high‑performance workstation, using Agisoft PhotoScan as my go‑to for its affordability and RealityCapture when I needed extra speed. Meshroom handled splitting and flattening of 360° images, and I polished the resulting meshes and rendered the animated sequences in Blender and Maya.
